Terms of Use

Last updated 26 October 2026

Rooto is a navigation app made by Minetek Systems Inc. These terms cover the app, this website and Rooto Pro. By using Rooto you agree to them.

Drive first, navigate second

Rooto gives directions. You drive the vehicle. Road signs, signals, lane markings, the instructions of police and road workers, and what you can see through the windscreen always come before anything the app shows or says.

What is free and what is Rooto Pro

Turn-by-turn navigation, hazard alerts and reporting, search, what3words addresses and your trip receipts are free. Rooto Pro is an optional purchase that adds the features listed on the pricing section of this site and on the plans screen in the app. We may add features to either side over time; we will not move a feature you have paid for out of Pro during a period you have already paid for.

Subscriptions, trials and one-time passes

Purchases are made through the store you installed Rooto from — Apple's App Store or Google Play — and are charged to your account with that store. We never see your payment details.

Rooto has no accounts. A purchase belongs to your store account, and "Restore purchases" in the app brings it back on a new phone or after a reinstall, on the same store.

What you send us

If you report a hazard, you allow us to show that report to other drivers and to remove it when it is stale or wrong. Report only what you have actually seen, and never while the vehicle is moving unless a passenger does it. Deliberately false reports are a reason to stop accepting reports from an installation.

If you share a trip, anyone holding the link can see your position and arrival time until the share ends. Who you send it to is your decision. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

Fair use

Rooto is for personal navigation. Do not copy the app's map or routing data in bulk, probe or overload our servers, take the app apart to build a competing service, or use it to break the law. We may limit or block an installation that does.

Availability

Rooto keeps working through signal loss by design, but no service runs perfectly. Coverage, traffic, search and map data depend on networks and providers outside our control, and features may change or be withdrawn. Rooto currently covers the United States.

No warranty

Rooto is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, Minetek Systems Inc makes no warranties, express or implied, including of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Minetek Systems Inc is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for fines, penalties, missed appointments, vehicle damage or tolls arising from use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Rooto Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms removes rights that the law of your state does not allow to be removed.

The store's part

These terms are between you and Minetek Systems Inc, not Apple or Google. The store is not responsible for the app, its support or any claim about it. If you installed Rooto from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your licence to use the app, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Rooto after that means you accept the new terms.
